Barcelona hosted the sixth General Assembly meeting of the MedBioinformatics project on November 3-4 2016, which counted with the attendance of 38 people from the different organisations and research groups involved in the project, including St. Joan de Déu Hospital as Associate Partner.
The meeting counted with the special attendance of four members of both the Scientific and the Ethics Advisory Boards. For that reason, the event, which was organised coinciding with the finalisation of the first reporting period of the project, was focused on presenting the progress done in the different work packages during the first half of the project life, including the ethical issues encountered, as well as an overview of the next steps and future plans. Furthermore, specific presentations were done by the various tools being developed/improved in the framework of MedBioinformatics, showing live demos and results of the implementation of the uses cases, and providing details on upcoming improvements.
EBI presented the plans for the organization of the 2nd European Conference on Translational Bioinformatics (ECTB2017), which will take place in Hinxton in June 12-13 2017 and will count with the support of the Wellcome Genome Campus Advanced Courses and Scientific Conferences.
Based on the different presentations, both SAB and EAB members provided feedback and suggestions for improvements, at scientific, ethical, and sustainability levels.
Next face-to-face meeting will take place also in Barcelona in March 2017.
